Lene was born in 1955 and grew up in Viborg, Denmark. After high school she studied Ceramic Design from 1974-78 at Kolding Arts and Craft School where emphasis was on learning by observing nature. Lene studied subjects such as drawing, wheel throwing, hand building and chemistry.

During these years she also had the opportunity to develop her own works for exhibitions and sale. Between 1983-84, Lene lived in northern Norway where she assisted a ceramic artist with a large mural as well as producing her own pieces.

Lene's ceramic work
Lene choose to work with high temperature stoneware and porcelain clays fired in an electric kiln producing both functional and sculptural works which sell in galleries and shops. Lene has held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous selected group exhibitions in Australia and overseas.
In 1998 she returned to Viborg for a joint exhibition titled ‘Influences’ with fellow Danish-Australian ceramist Lone White from Cairns. As well as showing their works to their home town they conducted a speaking tour concerning Australian Ceramic Artists.
Lene continues to experiment with clay, glazes and to explore shapes and decorative techniques. The development of new styles has often been inspired by the Australian environment as experienced during holidays in all the Australian states.
